“Every one of my lessons is tailored to teach you exactly what you want to learn.
Anyone can learn a song through a book, but I can guide you through confusing musical concepts and terminology that players often get hung up on”.

Richard Hernandez started his studies in music at age 11. Initially, he played the oboe in his middle school concert band for 3 years; where he learned music theory, rhythm, how to read music, and how to interact with other musicians in a band setting.

As a teenager, Richard became passionate about guitar and applied his knowledge to the instrument.
At age 15 he formed a band called Calavera and won Rancho Buena Vista High School’s Battle of the Bands a year later. For the next several years they played countless shows around the North County area.

To further his musical studies Richard completed Music Theory courses at MiraCosta college. At the same time he was gaining a guitar-centric perspective to music theory through lessons from Seth Hollander.

Richard is still fired up about all things music. His knowledge of guitar is constantly growing due to a never-ending research of theory books, music, and musical equipment. Richard continues to inspire and motivate others through his personal compositions, wicked guitar playing, and his teachings.
